Life on the Road

We packed up our place and were moved out on July 22nd. The plan was to drive to Boise 3 days later and move directly into a house we were renting. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until I pulled onto Boise first and drove by the house. We were supposed to get the keys 12 hours from that time, and there were still people living there. The mess just got worse. We were told we could move in 4 days later and that the owner of the home would pay for our hotel and truck rental extension. During that time we drove to Salt Lake for Adam’s (my brother) wedding. On the way back up to Boise we got a call saying that the people were still in the house and that we couldn’t move in for 4 more days. We of course said forget it and asked for all of my money back plus the money they promised to pay for the past four day’s expenses. To make a long story short, we ended up putting all of our stuff in storage in Boise and moving out to my grandparent’s ranch near Logan Utah for two weeks. From here we will be in Pocatello for 6 weeks where UW provides the housing and then will need a place in Boise. It has been a crazy few weeks and we are very glad to now be a little more settled and have days were we are not driving 5-8 hours or packing/unpacking as quickly as we can. We only got the money back after a very nice attorney from my parent’s ward made some calls for us. I am sure the management company was hoping we would just go away. I am sure they were pretty surprised to have a call from an attorney first thing Monday morning. If ever renting in Boise, avoid Real Property Management!
